6:27pm Matt had given it up for the night and let them all go do what they wanted to. Lindsay had bought makeup that afternoon and was prepping for her date with Connor. She had ten more minutes to get ready before she had to go to the restaurant. She had been waiting for this all day and wanted to look just right. She just had to get out of the apartment without anyone getting suspicious. "Going somewhere?" Matt asked when she came out of the bedroom, where she had been for the last half hour. "Not really... I'm just going out for dinner." She wasn't lying; sure, she was going out for dinner. "Want some company?" Matt was just trying to be nice, and she knew it. Lindsay smiled. "No thanks, Matt. I just need some time by myself. But thanks for the offer, I appreciate it." "No prob. See you later, I guess." "Goodnight, Matt. I probably won't be back until late. Don't wait up for me." Matt smiled and went back to reading his book. Anton, who was also reading and sat in the opposite corner of the room, looked up and waved slightly. Peter, who was nowhere to be seen, called something from the other room, where he was still trying to think of ways to get them home. "Bye, Lindsay," his voice came in from the 'study.' "Bye Pete," Lindsay called back, and left the apartment.
7:48pm It only took Lindsay a couple of minutes to walk to the restaurant. As soon as she got to the parking lot, she could see Connor, in a black tux, sitting in a window booth. He sat at the table reading the wine list with his hands folded on the table. He didn't look nearly as nervous as she felt. She entered the classy building and a woman came to her from behind the front booth. "Hi, my name is Jenna. I believe someone is expecting you..." Jenna led Lindsay over to where Connor was seated. As soon as Lindsay came around the corner, he stood up. He stared at her for a minute; he had never seen her look so beautiful. She was wearing a formal black pants suit with a gold chain belt; she had gold earrings and a sparkling gold necklace. Her shoes were the same flat black as her shirt and pants and had small gold buckles on the top. Lindsay stepped up to Connor and slightly nervously said 'hi.' He took her hand, kissed it lightly, and they sat down opposite each other. "You look stunning," he complimented her when they had been seated. "Thank you. You don't look to shabby yourself." She was no longer nervous, just a bit anxious. They had dinner, chatted about nothing for a while, and left. They were going out for a night on the town, and Lindsay suspected it would be wonderful, just like supper had been. She was wrong. |
